Q) What motivated you to enter the Inspiring Women in Property Awards?

A) There are two main reasons. Throughout my career I’ve been passionate about encouraging other women to enter the industry and succeed, most of which has been through my involvement with Women in Property for 20 years. Also, within my own sector – housebuilding – there is a noticeable lack of professional female role models, so entering the IWIP Awards was a great way I could raise awareness to the opportunities in surveying and planning. I have learned so much and gained so much, it was important to me to show what can be achieved.

Q) Why do you think these awards are important for the property industry?

A) This is all about role models, visibility and the future of this industry. Girls and young women need to see people like them working, succeeding and inspiring others. It’s really important for new entrants and Next Gen, to see a diverse and inclusive industry, with women in influential roles.

Q) If you could sum up the impact of entering these awards in one sentence, what would it be?

A) I think this is recognition for many of the people who are working away quietly, often behind the scenes, but with a consistent drive and passion to support people coming through the industry. It is an endorsement of everything they do towards a fair, balanced and inclusive society.
