Woman of the Year

This award will go to the woman whose successes stand out above all others. An exceptional figure, she will have achieved at the highest level and shown qualities of outstanding skill, judgement and professional expertise.

Judges are looking for one outstanding individual and role model who has a proven track record of success, is doing remarkable work and making a difference to others. From breaking glass ceilings, to building a vibrant business, to changing attitudes in the industry, the winner of this award will already be standing out from the crowd. Finalists in this category will be able to demonstrate passion, dedication and fierce determination through their own style of leadership.

Women now represent the majority of the real estate workforce but are still poorly represented in senior roles. Some sectors, such as residential, have seen an influx of women leaders in recent years while others, such as commercial real estate, are still dominated by men.

This award will recognise an individual who has displayed superlative leadership ability in this era of change. Role-agnostic, this award will go to an inspirational mentor or coach who, as an example to others, has raised standards of excellence across the UK commercial real estate sector.

Innovator of the Year

This category is open to individuals who have played a leading role in modernising the UK real estate industry.

We are looking for genuine innovation that has contributed towards the breaking down of barriers that women face in the real estate workplace. The winner will have in a definable way broken new ground in areas such as process, strategy or technology.

Judges will be looking for examples of thinking outside the box, plus evidence of the difference it is making to your business/organisation. For example, have you actively redesigned the nature of certain jobs or qualifications to attract women? Have you introduced agile working, networking or advocacy? If so, we want to hear from you!

Mentor of the Year

It is widely accepted that property must broaden its intake of new recruits beyond white public school educated sons and daughters of those already in the industry, however there are many obstacles to overcome from these wider routes into the property sector, and even more to be found when building a progressive career pathway.

This category requires entrants to focus on a specific example of mentorship in action and the award will recognise the vital importance of mentoring the next generation of talent in real estate. The winner will have impacted others to be the best they can be, to overcome obstacles, transcend social barriers and achieve their full potential.

Returner of the Year

This award highlights the challenges associated with returning to work following maternity leave or a career break.

The winner will have succeeded in the UK real estate sector having in the previous two years returned to work. The judges will be looking for results and the impact the winner has had on their organisation since returning to the workplace. It is hoped that her actions will provide an example of best practice for those who wish to return in the future.

To be eligible, entrants must have returned to work no more than two years ago, and their achievements must relate to the past 24 months: 1st April 2021 – 31st March 2023.

Unsung Hero

This award shines a light on the exceptional talent of those in non-customer facing or back-office roles within the UK real estate sector. Those whose voices are not often heard, but have quietly contributed to the success of your business, the organisational culture or perhaps your EDI agenda.

Judges will be looking for the scale of impact that has been made from the individual’s actions, evidence of continuous and ongoings efforts, and a demonstration of passion and pride.

Role-agnostic, this award celebrates the property industry’s most outstanding team leaders, those who through outstanding ability in communication and vision have led others to deliver on strategic goals in ways that exceed standards across the UK commercial real estate sector.

As part of this, you will attract, retain and progress a diverse workforce. You may have set up initiatives such as gender equality awareness training, diversity, or women’s empowerment courses. You will acknowledge diversity in its widest sense to create an inclusive workplace that in turn motivates your team to succeed. And perhaps you are disseminating your learnings to other leaders to create a broader cultural shift.

This award is open to young UK-based real estate professionals who have made exceptional starts to their careers and promise to be future leaders in their fields. We are seeking nominations from all sectors of the industry and from those below senior management or director level – representing the talent pipeline and the next generation of future leaders.

Judges are looking for one outstanding individual who is a role model for others and has a success story to tell of their journey so far.

EDI Team of the Year

For true workplace inclusiveness, we have to look at diversity in its widest sense – acknowledging that someone’s gender, race, class, age and other characteristics interconnect to make us unique.

This award puts the spotlight on the teams who are driving change within their businesses to create more inclusive working environments within the UK property industry. Through addressing topics such as career pathways, staff retention, training and education, organisational culture, mentorship, coaching or wellbeing, these teams will be able to demonstrate evidence of impact throughout their organisation.

EDI Champion of the Year

This award will go to the individual who has made the most outstanding impact in their contribution to EDI within the real estate sector. This award is open to professionals who are either successfully leading diverse, sustainable, and equitable organisations or team members who have made an individual contribution to the enhancement of EDI, in any capacity.

Judges will be assessing the level of impact – but bigger does not necessarily mean better – small initiatives that show influential change within a single organisation will be considered stronger entries than larger or longer initiatives that cannot demonstrate significant results.

This award will go to the organisation which can be seen to have most successfully promoted EDI and made a real effort to drive change within its business in the last 12 months.

The real estate industry has the highest disparity between the proportion of women in the higher paid salaries and the rest of the workforce. We know there is a growing commitment to address this, and other gender inequalities, across all sectors and we want to hear about the initiatives that are underway and the positive progress being made.
