Interview with Asha Agarwal from Inspire New Homes
Q) Why is it crucial for the next generation of property professionals to see these stories in the spotlight?
A) For me, this is one of the most important parts of these awards - particularly for women coming into the industry.
When we see real stories of women succeeding not just the highlights, but the challenges, setbacks, and resilience behind them, it changes what feels possible.
I didn’t come into this sector with a clear roadmap or network, and like many women, my journey hasn’t been linear. That’s why visibility matters - it shows there isn’t just one way to succeed.
Having a career plan is important, but it doesn’t always go to plan and that’s okay. Sometimes the unexpected turns are what shape your strongest opportunities.
In my work across local authorities and housing associations - delivering programmes worth millions in sales, I’ve seen firsthand how much impact we can create commercially, but also how important it is that we’re opening doors for more women to step into leadership roles.
If we don’t share these stories, we risk limiting what the next generation believe they can achieve. And that’s something I’m incredibly passionate about creating space, sharing knowledge, and supporting women coming through the industry.
Q) Beyond individual success, how much weight do you give to those who are actively lifting others up or mentoring the next generation?
A) This carries huge weight for me, especially when it comes to women supporting other women.
We all know this industry can still feel male-dominated at times, and having people who actively lift others up, create opportunities, and champion talent is incredibly powerful.
The individuals who stand out to me are those who are not only succeeding in their own careers, but are intentionally creating pathways for others - mentoring, opening doors, and building confidence.
For me, that comes from lived experience. I know what it feels like to navigate challenges, build resilience, and find your way without a clear support system.
Throughout my career, the moments that have stayed with me most aren’t just the deals or delivery but seeing individuals I’ve supported grow in confidence and step into roles they didn’t think were possible.
That’s why I believe success isn’t just about personal achievement, it’s about how many people you bring with you along the way.
Success is powerful but success that lifts other women is what truly changes an industry.
Q) In your experience, how can a nomination impact the career trajectory of a rising star in the property sector?
A) Recognition like this can be transformational - particularly for women who may not always feel confident putting themselves forward or owning their achievements.
A nomination builds confidence, creates visibility, and opens doors to opportunities that might not have been accessible otherwise. In many cases, it’s the moment someone starts to truly recognise their own potential.
I’ve experienced this personally through being shortlisted for industry awards, it’s put me in rooms I wouldn’t have otherwise been in, connected me with influential people across the sector, and opened up opportunities that have supported my growth.
When I reflect on my own journey, I would never have imagined being in a position to judge awards like this. That’s the power of visibility and opportunity - it can completely change how you see yourself and what you believe is possible.
I’ve also seen others go from being behind the scenes to becoming recognised voices in the industry off the back of that visibility.
That’s why awards like this matter. They don’t just celebrate success, they validate journeys, including the resilience it often takes to get there.
And for me, it’s a big part of my next chapter - continuing to share my experience, mentor others, and support more women to step forward with confidence.
If more women can see what’s possible, they’ll start to believe it’s possible for them too.
